Windows Mixed Reality HeadsetsThe new Windows Mixed Reality headsets are now available and reviews have been relatively positive. The WMR headsets are essentially virtual reality headsets with six degrees of freedom and inside-out tracking. They use built-in cameras to map the users movements within their real world environment and to track special controllers that allow the users hands to interact with the VR experience.

Windows Mixed Reality headsets take advantage of superior technology to deliver the best experience possible. Spatial audio lets the user hear sounds from specific locations just like in the real world and the advanced motion controllers make it easy to move through virtual spaces. The combined effect is a sensation where the users virtual and physical worlds are in perfect sync.

Acer, ASUS, Dell, Fujitsu, HP, Lenovo, Samsung and 3Glasses have all developed their own version of the Windows Mixed Reality headset. The Samsung Odyssey model has the best specs of the group and also the highest retail price. The other models have very similar specs and are largely the same headset with slightly different designs. The 3Glasses headset is mainly for users in China and the Fujitsu headset for those in Japan.
